This portrait of Jane Austen is based on a small pencil and watercolour sketch made by her sister, Cassandra c. 1810. I have also drawn inspiration from the watercolour portrait by James Andrews, 1869 and engraving by William Home Lizars, 1869.

I hope I have given justice to this great novelist known for such masterpieces as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.

Having lived in the city of Bath for the past 10 years it's hard to escape Austen's influence. Even though she spent a relatively short time here, the city has fully embraced Jane Austen as their patron saint. Bath has an abundance of Regency cafes, museums and festivals and all their giftshops but in my opinion, none of them offers a decent quality souvenir for the admirers of the great author.

That is until now...

This relief portrait is original and trademarked work of art by Rita Lazaro. Each piece is hand-cast and finished to the highest standard in reinforced plaster of Paris. The relief is about 5-7mm thick in a discrete silver wood imitation frame. The relief is marked with Rita's signature and year 2020 to make this sculpture even more unique.

Size of gypsum relief: 18 x 13 x ~0.7 cm

Size of frame: 20 x 15 cm

Colour of frame: Silver

Each relief is unique and the colour of plaster may slightly vary from that shown on the picture.
